El Centro, CA
to El Paso, TX

621 miles / 9 hours, 3 minutes

Slept from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Woke up early to try and beat the high desert heat when crossing the Yuma Desert. Temperature outside at 2:00 AM was still 98 degrees. Rode until 4:00 AM and then booked a room at the Iron Butt motel (slept at a highway rest stop) till sunrise, about 6:00 AM.

During my short night ride, I saw the Border Patrol arresting somebody, who was spread eagled down on the ground. Illegal Immigrants are probably entering the country at an unprecedented rate, but I have to say that I saw a large number of Border Patrol officers near the highways that I was riding on.

Saguaro National Park was really a great place to take a break from the highway. Maybe I didn't expect much to begin with, but it was a very interesting park. I saw a coyote, small snake, 2 types of lizards, and lots of birds along the nature trail. Tucson separates the west side of the park, from the east side of the park. The east side of the park has a fun hilly & twisty 8 mile road winding through the park. Temperatures were not quite as hot today getting around 95 as the high temperature. Passed 2K miles since start of the trip.

Cumulative motorcycle return waves today: 117
