The Eaton health fair is in large part the legacy of Ron Lapp, an Eaton resident and long time 9Health Fair volunteer.
Lapp died last July from stomach cancer at the age of 51. His friends are keeping his memory alive by organizing the Ron Lapp Memorial Cancer Run - a motorcycle rally scheduled on Saturday, April 22, 2006.
Up to 1,000 riders were expected (along with members of the local Mustang Club) and money raised from the event went to help the families of children with cancer through Zac's Legacy Foundation CHILDHOOD CANCER FUND.
"I can think of nothing more to do in Ron's name than to help children because that was his heart, to help people," said rally organizer Robert Aughinbaugh. Lapp's widow thinks the fund raising rally is a fitting tribute to her late husband. "I think it's awesome," said Marge Lapp. "That's what Ron was all about. His goal in life was to help people. Anything that can benefit someone else, he would be all for it."
